Land Acknowledgement is a reminder that we are all on Native lands.
I recognize that I’m on Anishinaabe territory, and that a land acknowledgement does serve the purpose to remind non-natives of whose land they are on.
There is controversy of the hollowness of land acknowledgement in white circles and even in well-meaning BIPOC spaces.. If one is to offer a land acknowledgement and to do right, action and meaningful land rematriation need to follow. This also includes active and radical participation to end the genocide that is still ongoing to First Peoples in America.
